The Bare Bones of Boxy2D

What Is Boxy 2D?
Boxy2D is a 2D physics library that I pieced together from a lot of my early attempts at flash games.
It’s not as fully featured as libraries like Box2D (objects can’t rotate, and large stacks of objects don’t collide well), but it is incredibly easy to get started with and build on. As an example, I’m going to show you how to put together a simple marble labyrinth game:
The guiding principle is that all objects should define their own interactions and properties, and code to control the scene should all be in one place.
Put simply, it’s not great for Angry Birds, but it’s more than enough for Mario.
Tools for Ubiquitous Capture

What is Ubiquitous Capture?
Ubiquitous Capture is the notion of writing down just about every idea that pops into your head, rather than trying to remember it all. It’s easy to come up with a great idea and think “I’ll write that down when I get home” and forget about it completely by the time you get there. So how can you possibly record of all these thoughts and keep them organised?
The key is to funnel all your thoughts back to a central source where you can go through them later and seperate the good stuff from the junk. Thanks to the ability of many programs and devices to share info wirelessly, it’s easier than ever to keep all your ideas in one place, and accessible everywhere.

by Gritfish on December 28, 2010
I’ll admit, most of my work happens at a desk. But sitting at a desk is about the one place I am completely incapable of coming up with ideas. So I go out – and when inspiration strikes, sometimes it’s better to just sit down, whip out the computer, and get going. So here’s a big list of free/cheap software that runs great on a netbook or iPad.
My Big (but shrinking) 2010
by Gritfish on December 27, 2010
2010 has often felt like a mad race against the web industry. The year kicked off with the “death of flash” as many people in the industry saw it, which for me saw a shift from flash to php, mysql and jquery. After several false starts, I found myself working with the MODx CMS framework, and haven’t looked back. After a few months of using it, it’s become like the jquery of website building – all the shortcuts are there at your fingertips, and it gives users just enough control.
